Matters Arising

Highways Department

·         Potholes

  • Potholes were reported on Brill Road, opposite Hillside Farm, Thame Road opposite the Brill Road junction and Worminghall Road by Catsbrain Farm.
  • The problem with the depression outside 33 Worminghall Road is ongoing.  Clerk to monitor this progress.

               

Other items to note (not highways)

  • Kerbsetts at the junction of Manor Road and Bicester Road have still not been replaced.  Clerk to chase this repair.

Anti Social Behaviour

·         It has been noted that the bus shelter requires cleaning and painting.  This will be addressed in the spring when the weather improves.

Bucks Recycling

·         Clerk to contact Worminghall Parish Council reference the camper van parked in the gateway by Bucks Recycling.

Land at Oxford Road

·         No further progress this month.

Parking on Footpaths

·         Vehicles are obstructing the footpath along Brill Road.  Clerk to contact PCSO.

Jericho Farm

·         This application is not listed for the next planning committee meeting.  The Chairman of  Oakley Parish Council has requested to be present at this meeting.

Affordable Housing

·         District Councillor Michael Rand stated that he believed that this work was scheduled to start  December.  Clerk to contact Transportation.

SID/Traffic Calming Measures

·         Quotes and plans have been received from Jacobs.  Any comments to be logged with Jacobs Engineering Ltd before 29th January 2010.

·         Contact has been made with Ford village in respect of the speed trial.  Clerk to maintain contact and note results and the end of the trial period.  Unfortunately funding will not be available for any other project until after the completion of the pedestrian refuge crossing.

Grass Cutting

·         The quotes for the grass cutting in Oakley for 2010 were discussed.  Councillor David Cherry proposed that the contracts be kept the same as last year as this seemed to work well.  This was seconded by Councillor Derek Pearce and the vote was unanimous.  The contracts go to Westbury Groundcare for the main playing field and areas within the village and Oakley Pre-school keep the contract for the play area and area immediately alongside of the village hall.

  • Coombe Hill Monument Appeal -  It was agreed to donate £50.00 to this restoration fund as it is a memorial to the 158 men of Buckinghamshire who gave their lives in the South African War 1899-1902

Any Other Business

Bus service

·         The matter of the bus to Bicester is still ongoing.  Councillor John Mole has received a letter from the Speaker of the House of Commons stating that there is concern that parish councils should be asked to fund local public transport.  There will be another review of the bus schedule in the spring.

Salt

·         Several attempts have been made to get Highways to fill the salt box on the forecourt of Oakley Self Service.  Also further salt heaps have been requested for the Oxford Road, in particular the top of Jericho Hill.  Clerk to continue with these requests.

Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Parish Council is scheduled to take place on Tuesday,    2nd February  2010 at 7.30 p.m., in the Village Hall.
